The city of poetry and love fell hard for Muay Thai. Three superstars came to France to put on a display. Yodsanklai, Sitthitchai, and Nong O taught at the Amazing Muay Thai Masterclass Seminar in Paris.
Sitthitchai started the seminar series. Sitthitchai is a former Glory Kickboxing Champion. He showed how to transition from Muay Thai into kickboxing. As a southpaw, he focused on angled attacks and combinations.
The Killer Kid engaged with the crowd. He sparred with some of the athletes.
“It was good sparring. It was very fun and had a good ambiance. And he’s a good fighter,” Eytan Bettahar said.
Bettahar of France began Muay Thai five years ago.
“I have many thanks for the Amazing Muay Thai, for Nong O, Sitthitchai, and Yodsanklai.
Following Sitthtichai was the boxing computer, Yodsanklai Fairtex. The Southpaw athlete taught basic rhythm. He is a stadium and international champion. Yodsanklai used basic principles to advance his career to soaring heights.
Everything in sports has rhythm because If you don’t have rhythm everything is not good. “Rhythm is important,” Yodsanklai said.
Along with the basics of timing was Nong O. He showed exactly where to kick opponents. He targets right above the knee with his vicious leg kicks. It was this attack that made him smash through Liam Harrison.
Serge Trefeu of Siamfightmag.com was on hand for the event.
“It’s fantastic. I’ve never seen so many people for 1 event. It’s very organized,” he said.
Trefeu is a well known French Muay Thai Journalist. He regularly covers events in his homeland and Thailand.
“It’s more than 300 people. My feelings to see these great champions,” he said. “I found it great.”
Gym owners from the area received recognition from the Sports Authority Of Thailand. The SAT, the governing body for the sport, issued certifications for Muay Thai gyms.
Criteria include a clear goal, management, a boxing ring, and more. Those licensed gain access to the SAT’s qualified Muay Thai instructors. They promote their gyms during cultural fairs organized by the Thai Embassy.
Along with the Muay Thai was a brilliant demonstration of Muay Boran. The ancient Martial Art comes from South East Asia. It is considered the origin of Muay Thai.
With the fighting was Thai food and massage. A som tum table was on hand for people to taste Thailand’s iconic dish. And there were Thai masseuses giving people a feel for the body bending art of massage.
It is all part of the SAT’s program to certify established Muay Thai gyms around the world.
The day of activity is part of a Thai governmental program. The Thai government knows that combat sports can unite nationalities. The Thai government is pushing forward the masterclass seminars as part of the “soft power” initiatives. These programs use culture to grow awareness of the sport and of the beauty of Thailand.
The European tour continues with a night of fights in Verona Italy and a masterclass
Limited tickets are available for the bouts and the seminar
